In a new twist in the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited ( HPPCL) Chief Engineer Vimal Negi's mysterious death case in Himachal Pradesh, Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Sanjeev Gandhi, who was reportedly sent on leave last week for indiscipline subtly after he gave media statements against seniors in the police and the state, on Monday filed Leave Petition in his personal capacity before the Himachal Pradesh High Court, challenging the May 23 order on CBI investigation into the Vimal Negi case.
The petition comes after a previous Letters Patent Appeal (LPA) filed by Gandhi in the High Court as Superintendent of Police, Shimla was flagged by HC Registry for procedural shortcomings as his appeal was not routed through Advocate General.
Gandhi has cast doubts over CBI's neutrality and has called for a court monitored investigation into the case in his petition.
Gandhi, who headed the Special Investigation Team ( SIT) constituted by the state government into Vimal Negi's mysterious death, has been showing over interest against the court order on CBI investigation into the case, which has raised many eyebrows, especially when the state government has categorically said it welcomes court decision on CBI investigation into the case.
