Nitish Kumar on Saturday launched development projects and schemes worth around ₹480 crore in Begusarai and Sheikhpura districts of Bihar during his ‘Samridhi Yatra’, while also reviewing the progress of several ongoing initiatives.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Kumar launched more than 400 development projects and schemes worth ₹274 crore in Begusarai. These included the inauguration of 211 projects valued at ₹165 crore and the laying of foundation stones for 189 schemes worth ₹109 crore.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected the under-construction government medical college and hospital in Begusarai and reviewed the progress of construction work. He directed officials to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Once operational, the hospital is expected to provide improved and timely medical treatment to residents of Begusarai and neighbouring areas, the Chief Minister said.
Kumar also visited various industrial units in the Begusarai Industrial Area and emphasised that the state government is actively encouraging the establishment of new industries across Bihar to boost employment and economic growth.

Before the Chief Minister’s arrival in Begusarai, a stray bull caused a brief disruption at the helipad site. A purported video of the incident circulated on social media showing the animal entering the restricted area and chasing a police personnel, creating momentary confusion among security staff.
However, district authorities denied reports of a security breach. Shrikant Shastri, District Magistrate of Begusarai, said the incident occurred around 10 am, nearly two hours before the Chief Minister’s scheduled arrival.
“It is not a security breach at all as reported in a section of the media. Such reports are totally baseless and misleading. The animal entered an area that was not close to the helipad or the venue, and the situation was promptly brought under control,” he said.
Later in the day, Kumar travelled to Sheikhpura district, where he launched additional projects and schemes worth around ₹206 crore. These included the inauguration of 196 schemes valued at ₹62 crore and the laying of foundation stones for 120 projects worth ₹144 crore.
Among those present on the occasion were Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, along with several state ministers and senior district officials.
