Trinamool Congress veteran NK Sudheer has declared that he is joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sudheer will take formal BJP membership on July 13 in Thiruvananthapuram. Sudheer made the announcement just moments after TMC state convener PV Anvar went live on his Facebook page and stated that his party has expelled Sudheer for three years.
Sudheer said that he had already apprised TMC state convener PV Anvar of his decision to switch over to the BJP. "Anvar is a good leader and a close friend. Realizing the political ground reality that he will not be accepted within the UDF, I decided to quit the party," Sudheer said.

He reiterated that his political objective is to benefit the downtrodden sections of society— something he feels was impossible in the Trinamool Congress.
"The BJP is a national party. And the allegations that it is against minorities are unfounded. We cannot overlook the progress the country has made under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. When the nation is plagued by major problems, including cross-border terrorism, one should rally behind Modi," Sudheer said.
On the other hand, Anvar has said that Sudheer was ousted from TMC for three years due to his anti-party activities. Sudheer was the district chief coordinator of TMC in Thrissur.
