No hope from BJP govt’s budget: Hooda

Responding to questions from reporters in Karnal, Hooda said Haryana’s economic situation is deteriorating day by day. “The state’s debt, which was only Rs 60,000 crore from the formation of Haryana until 2014, has now increased to around Rs 5.25 lakh crore,” he said.

Former chief minister and Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda said the Opposition and the public have no expectations from the current BJP government’s budget, as the government has done nothing in the past 11 years except increase Haryana’s debt.

He questioned where this money was spent despite such massive borrowing. “The public knows the answer. It has been wasted by the BJP in scams, squandering the hard-earned money of the people. Every day, a new scam comes to light in this government. The paddy scam is the latest example. Instead of taking action against the big players, the government is suppressing the matter by targeting lower-level employees,” he said.

Responding to a question on the SYL canal issue, Hooda said the Supreme Court’s decision has come in favour of Haryana, and now it is the responsibility of both the central and state governments to implement it. “Despite the BJP having governments at both the Centre and the state, Haryana is not getting its rightful share of water,” he said.

“We have repeatedly said the government should file a contempt of court case against the Punjab government in the Supreme Court. Instead of doing this, the government is merely wasting time with talks and meetings. This is because the BJP does not want Haryana to get its rightful share of water,” he added.

Hooda also alleged that the BJP created millions of fake ration cards to garner votes during the elections. He said that after the polls, more than 14 lakh ration cards were cancelled. “It is clear that this is not just a scam involving rations, but also a scam against the public mandate,” he pointed out.
