The J&K administration has decided that there will be no New Year celebrations at any place due to the seven-day mourning declared by the Union government over the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, official sources said.
Sources informed reporters that due to the declaration of seven-day mourning over the death of former PM Manmohan Singh, the departments of Jammu and Kashmir won't observe the New Year celebrations as a mark of respect.
Although “the tourism department will celebrate events as part of the winter carnival, starting on January 2, 2025, in Pahalgam,” they said.
“In mid-January, we will celebrate Gulmarg winter carnival. The National Tourism Day event will also be celebrated in Srinagar, while several events will also be held in Sonamarg, Doothapthri, Lolab, and other places,” sources said.
