Notorious gangster Ravneet Singh, alias Sone Mote, was shot by two unidentified assailants in Kathianwala Bazaar in Amritsar on Tuesday.
According to Amritsar ADCP Vishaljit Singh, “Two men shot a man called Ravneet Singh. We have reached the spot and an investigation is being carried out. We have some initial leads and the culprits will be caught soon.” Singh added that the victim has been taken to the hospital for treatment, though the extent of his injuries remains unconfirmed.
Police personnel have secured the area and are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers. No arrests have been made so far.
The incident comes just a day after a major breakthrough in another criminal case, with the Special Task Force (STF) and Jhajjar police arresting Kunal Joon, a notorious gangster and history-sheeter wanted in multiple criminal cases.
According to Wasim Akram, Superintendent of Police (Karnal Range), Kunal Joon is originally a resident of Nuna Majra village of Bahadurgarh. He has a history of criminal activities. About 15 cases have been registered against him at various places in Rohtak and Jhajjar districts.
Police revealed that Joon had previously fled the country using a fraudulent passport after being granted bail. “He initially escaped to Dubai and was planning to move to the US illegally to continue operating his gang from abroad,” SP Akram said.
The authorities are tightening surveillance and pursuing leads in both cases, highlighting the ongoing crackdown on organized crime networks operating within and beyond Indian borders.
