In a major step toward facilitating overseas employment for the state's youth, the Ministry of External Affairs has granted a Recruitment Agent License (RAL) to Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (HPSEDC), authorising it to officially recruit Indian workers for foreign employers.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the development, stating that Himachal Pradesh has now joined the select group of Indian states empowered to offer overseas job placements through a government-run agency, eliminating the need for private intermediaries.

“This move will protect job seekers from exploitation by unscrupulous agents and spare them from paying exorbitant fees,” the Chief Minister said. “It will ensure that youth from Himachal are provided genuine employment opportunities abroad through a transparent and government-regulated process.”

With the license in place, HPSEDC will now function in accordance with international employment standards and regulations, enhancing credibility and streamlining the recruitment process for global placements.

The initiative is expected to open new avenues for skilled workers in the state while ensuring their safety, dignity, and fair treatment in foreign workplaces.
