National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Deputy General Manager (DGM) Kumar Gaurav was shot by unidentified assailants in Hazaribagh district on Saturday. He was hit in the back and rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The incident took place around 9:30 am near Fataha in the Katkamdag police station area of Hazaribagh. Hazaribagh SP Arvind Kumar Singh said that police teams are conducting raids to track down the attackers.
According to sources Kumar Gaurav was stationed at NTPC’s Keredari office and was on his way to work on Saturday morning when he was ambushed and shot.
He sustained critical injuries and succumbed before receiving medical attention.
Gaurav Kumar was a resident of Nalanda district of Bihar. He was in charge of coal dispatch, which is considered a sensitive department for mining companies.
The incident took place between Hazaribagh and Barkagaon. Interestingly, a similar attack occurred in the same region about two years ago, when criminals targeted and killed the General Manager of Ritwik Company.
After the incident, fear has gripped NTPC officials. Several NTPC projects are currently underway in the Barkagaon and Keredari regions of Hazaribagh, necessitating frequent site visits by officers. Consequently, employees and officials are now feeling increasingly vulnerable in the area.
