Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Thursday briefed Union Home Minister Amit Shah about the massive cloudburst in Kishtwar district. He said the situation is "grim and accurate" and that verified details are coming in slowly.
Officials confirmed that the cloudburst in the remote village of Chasoti has killed at least 40 people and caused widespread damage.
“I just spoke to the Union Home Minister @AmitShah Sb to brief him about the developing situation in Kishtwar region of Jammu. The news is grim & accurate, verified information from the area hit by the cloud burst is slow in arriving. All possible resources are being mobilised from within and beyond J&K to manage the rescue operations,” Abdullah wrote on his social media handle.
He added that he would not be speaking to media channels or news agencies, and that the government will share updates as and when possible.
