A part of a textile dyeing factory collapsed in Ludhiana's Focal Point area late Saturday, killing one worker and leaving another missing. Five workers were rescued and are receiving treatment in the hospital, where their condition is stable.
Rescue teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), worked through the night to pull out trapped workers. Inspector Amandeep Singh Brar confirmed that one worker had died and that an FIR had been registered against the contractor, as construction work was ongoing at the site when the accident happened.
Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal stated that the search operation is still underway to locate the missing worker. The collapse occurred at Kohli Dyeing Factory in Phase-8, and eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud noise before the structure gave way. The factory had a boiler installed, and at the time of the incident, seven workers were inside.

The building's owner informed officials that 29 workers had reported to duty that morning. After the collapse, rescue efforts began immediately. Multiple teams, including police, firefighters, municipal workers, and medical personnel, are on-site assisting in the operation.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has instructed officials to assess the situation and ensure proper rescue measures. In a post on X, he expressed hope for the safe rescue of the trapped worker and a quick recovery for the injured.
