Today is the fifth day that the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, is being grilled by the CBI.
The central agency has, so far, quizzed neraly 30 people, including doctors, medics, and staff.
It has been learnt that security guards, ward boys and nurses were also summoned on Friday night.
Additionally, it has been learnt that someone from the Kolkata Police had dialled (data call) the erstwhile principal of RG Kar on the night when the crime took place.
This shocking revelation has been made by the CBI officials, say sources.
Sources in the CBI have also claimed that the officials have confirmed that Ghosh deleted that particular call record and other relevant details from his phone.
Ghosh is being interrogated by the CBI repeatedly as he has not been able to furnish any justification for deleting information from the phone.
Additionally, the Central Bureau of Investigation is also looking into allegations by the victim’s family that the victim was under pressure at RG Kar.
The CBI wants to know from the former principal that why the victim was feeling pressured and whether or not he was aware of this.
Condition of security system for doctors and patients at the state-run hospital in question and even the management of the hospital are part of the queries that the CBI is seeking answers to.
Details of Ghosh’s call records and chat are also being investigated.
On Monday, the CBI team asked Ghosh to give detail of the role he played after he got to know about the doctor’s death.
The CBI has, reportedly, inquired to Ghosh the reason behind making the victim's parents wait for nearly three hours before giving them the body.
As per sources, Ghosh had been questioned on the renovation work that took place near the seminar hall, after the tragic incident was reported.
The Kolkata Police have also registered a corruption case against Ghosh.
The state police is probing financial irregularities at the state-run hospital, too, after a complaint in this regard was lodged in June.
The West Bengal government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve into the allegations of financial irregularities that have plagued RG Kar Medical College and Hospital since 2021.
While the conduct of the former principal remains in question, as far as the medic's rape-murder case is concerned we are yet to know who from the Kolkata Police dialled Ghosh on the night of the crime.
And to what extent this call is associated with the incident.
Just like this question there are several queries, which require answers in order to get justice for the RG Kar victim.
