Operation Sheruwali entered its 26th day on Wednesday in the dense forests of Dorimal in Rajouri's Manjakote sector. The operation has now become one of the longest-running anti-terror missions in the region in recent years.

Security forces have stepped up search operations in the forested area. Troops are combing the rugged hills of Dorimal, where steep slopes, rocky terrain and thick vegetation make the task extremely challenging.

Despite the challenging conditions, security personnel remain on high alert. Teams are carrying out extensive searches and monitoring the area closely to detect any suspicious activity. Surveillance and domination patrols are also continuing.

Launched in late May, Operation Sheruwali is a large-scale counter-terror mission involving multiple agencies. The aim is to track down and neutralise armed infiltrators believed to be hiding in the Dorimal-Gambhir Mughlan forest belt.

The prolonged operation reflects the security forces' resolve to keep the border district safe and prevent militant activity in the area.

Meanwhile, a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) and three Army personnel were injured in an accidental mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera sector on June 16.

According to police officials, the incident occurred around 11 am when troops from 4 Kumaon were carrying out a routine patrol in the forward Kalal area. A mine accidentally exploded during the patrol, injuring four soldiers.

The injured personnel were immediately evacuated and given first aid before being shifted to the Army Command Hospital in Udhampur for specialised treatment.

Officials said the Kalal sector is a sensitive area along the LoC where troops regularly patrol to prevent infiltration and maintain vigilance. The condition of the injured soldiers is being monitored, while authorities are examining the circumstances of the blast.

Earlier this month, on June 7, an Army jawan lost his life during Operation Sheruwali. He reportedly slipped and fell from a rocky slope while moving through the difficult mountain terrain. Despite being evacuated for treatment, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The operation had intensified on May 28 when heavy firing and shelling broke out in the Dorimal forest area. Security forces had tightened the cordon around suspected militants believed to be hiding in the dense forest cover.

Additional troops and logistical support were rushed to the area to strengthen the operation and block possible escape routes for the militants. Search operations are still underway as security forces continue to maintain pressure on suspected infiltrators hiding in the challenging terrain.
