Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) launched ‘Pink Buses’ exclusively for women passengers on International Women’s Day.
These buses will operate on two key routes with a high number of female commuters: Route 215B from Gurugram Bus Stand to Dundahera and Route 116E from Huda City Centre to Gurugram Railway Station.
The initiative was inaugurated by GMCBL CEO Vishwajeet Chaudhary and GMDA Joint CEO Suman Bhankar.
Speaking about the initiative, the GMCBL CEO stated that the introduction of these buses is a significant step toward ensuring safer mobility for women and reflects the Haryana Government’s commitment to gender-inclusive urban infrastructure.
These buses will primarily serve working women and students, providing them with a secure and comfortable commuting option.
The Pink Buses will run at scheduled timings throughout the day on both routes. Women conductors will also be deployed on these buses to enhance safety and convenience for passengers.
Currently, GMCBL operates a fleet of 150 buses across 26 routes in Gurugram. To further improve public transportation in the city, the Haryana government plans to introduce 200 new electric buses under the PM e-Seva scheme. This expansion aims to strengthen the city’s bus services and benefit the public by offering reliable and eco-friendly travel options.
