Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a major development push across Bihar and West Bengal on Friday, unveiling infrastructure, energy, IT, and rail projects worth over ₹12,000 crore during visits to Motihari and Durgapur.
In Bihar, Modi will dedicate or lay the foundation stones for projects exceeding ₹7,200 crore. These include new Software Technology Parks, the introduction of four Amrit Bharat trains, major railway and highway upgrades, and rural welfare schemes.
“During my visit to Motihari, development works worth ₹7,200 crore will be dedicated to the nation, or their foundation stones will be laid,” Modi said in a post on social media.
The Prime Minister is also expected to flag off four Amrit Bharat trains connecting Bihar and West Bengal with Delhi and Lucknow. Key rail projects in Bihar will include the doubling of rail lines between Darbhanga, Samastipur, and Narkatiaganj, as well as signalling upgrades on the Bhatni–Chhapra Gramin section to enhance train operations.
The Darbhanga–Narkatiaganj line, alone worth ₹4,080 crore, is expected to improve regional mobility and boost the movement of both passengers and freight.
In road infrastructure, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Ara bypass four-laning on NH-319, which links Ara–Mohania and Patna–Buxar, besides inaugurating the Parariya–Mohania four-lane section. Other works include a key two-lane link road between Sarwan and Chakai on NH-333C, connecting Bihar and Jharkhand.
Technology and entrepreneurship will also be a focus. Modi will inaugurate new STPI facilities in Darbhanga and Patna to promote IT and startup ecosystems. These will provide platforms for innovation, exports, and capacity building in the digital sector.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate a cluster of projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), supporting aquaculture, ornamental fish farming, and employment in rural Bihar.
To strengthen women-led development, Modi will release ₹400 crore to over 61,000 Self-Help Groups under DAY-NRLM. He will also conduct a Griha Pravesh ceremony for 12,000 housing beneficiaries and release ₹160 crore for 40,000 recipients under PMAY-Gramin.
In West Bengal, Modi will launch projects worth over ₹5,000 crore, covering oil and gas, rail, roads, and clean energy.
He will lay the foundation for a City Gas Distribution (CGD) network in Bankura and Purulia districts, valued at ₹1,950 crore, and dedicate the Durgapur–Kolkata section of the Urja Ganga natural gas pipeline.
The 132-km pipeline section, worth ₹1,190 crore, will serve thousands of households and industries across Purba Bardhaman, Hooghly, and Nadia.
Modi will also inaugurate flue gas desulphurisation (FGD) units at thermal power plants in Durgapur and Raghunathpur under the Damodar Valley Corporation, aiming to improve energy efficiency and cut emissions.
Rail expansion in Bengal will see the doubling of the Purulia–Kotshila line at a cost of ₹390 crore. Two road overbridges at Topsi and Pandabeshwar, constructed under the Setu Bharatam programme, will also be inaugurated.
Criticising the ruling Trinamool Congress, Modi said West Bengal had suffered due to “TMC misrule” and claimed that people “are seeing the BJP with hope.”
