PM in Nagpur today: Tributes, key infra projects on agenda

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nagpur, where he will pay homage to RSS founders KB Hedgewar and MS Golwalkar. He will also inaugurate key defence and infrastructure projects, including a UAV airstrip, and lay the foundation stone for a new eye hospital before heading to Bilaspur.

PM Narendra Modi is welcomed by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari upon his arrival at Nagpur airport, ahead of his visit to key sites and project inaugurations.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Nagpur on Sunday, where he will pay homage to the founding leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and inaugurate a series of key defence and infrastructure projects.

 

According to an official release, the Prime Minister will visit Dr Hedgewar Smruti Mandir, the memorial dedicated to RSS founder KB Hedgewar and the organisation’s second Sarsanghchalak, MS Golwalkar.

 

His visit coincides with the RSS’s function marking the Gudi Padwa festival.

 

Modi will also pay respects to Dr BR Ambedkar at Deekshabhoomi, the historic site where Ambedkar embraced Buddhism along with his followers in 1956.

 

During the visit, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Madhav Netralaya Premium Centre, an extension of the Madhav Netralaya Eye Institute and Research Centre.

The new facility will house a 250-bed hospital, 14 outpatient departments (OPDs), and 14 modular operation theatres, providing advanced eye care services.

 

Additionally, Modi will visit Solar Defence and Aerospace Limited’s ammunition facility, where he will inaugurate a newly constructed 1,250-metre-long and 25-metre-wide airstrip designed for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

 

He will also inaugurate a live munition and warhead testing facility for Loitering Munition and other guided munitions.

 

Security measures have been intensified in light of the Prime Minister’s visit.

 

"The PM's convoy will include 20 special vehicles, including those connected to VIP protection and others equipped with RCEID (radio controlled improvised explosive devices) jammer equipment. More than 5,000 police personnel from local units, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Anti-Riot Squad and Quick Response Team have been deployed. A total of 900 traffic police officers will be manning the roads," the release stated.

 

Following his engagements in Nagpur, Modi will proceed to Bilaspur in Chhattisgarh, where he will lay the foundation stone for several projects spanning power, oil and gas, rail, road, education, and housing sectors.
