Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on Friday commenced a significant two-day visit to Assam, arriving at Tezpur airport amidst a flurry of anticipation.
Welcomed cordially by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the premier's visit is set to mark the inauguration and laying of the foundation stone for projects amounting to a staggering Rs 18,000 crore.
In a social media post, CM Sarma expressed delight at Modi's arrival, extending a warm reception on behalf of the "#ModiParivarAssam."
From Tezpur, the Prime Minister embarked on a helicopter journey to Panbari in Kaziranga, where the final stretch of his expedition would entail a 15-kilometer road trip to the Police Guest House near Central Kohora Range in the Kaziranga National Park.
Scheduled to spend the night at the Guest House, Modi is slated for an early morning jungle safari on Saturday.
Authorities at the park have meticulously arranged for both jeep and elephant safaris, ensuring a memorable experience for the Prime Minister during his two-hour sojourn.
Post-safari, Modi is expected to depart for Arunachal Pradesh, where he is set to participate in two significant programs.
Upon returning to Jorhat in the afternoon, the Prime Minister will grace the inauguration of the 125-ft high 'Statue of Valour' dedicated to the legendary Ahom general Lachit Barphukan.
Following this, Modi will proceed to Meleng Meteli Pothar to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for various central and state projects, cumulatively valued at around Rs 18,000 crore.
A public meeting at the venue is also scheduled to provide the Prime Minister with an opportunity to address the gathering.
Concluding his Assam visit, Modi will depart for West Bengal, thereby wrapping up a comprehensive itinerary aimed at fostering development and progress in the region.
It is worth noting that the Prime Minister had previously visited Assam on February 4, launching a slew of infrastructure projects worth Rs 11,600 crore.
