Eight police personnel sustained injuries on Friday after the official vehicle in which they were travelling overturned near the Twin Bridge in the Uri sector of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to a senior police official, the incident occurred when a police Gypsy attached to the Udoosa Police Post was en route with duty personnel for deployment in the region.
The vehicle reportedly skidded off the road and overturned near the Twin Bridge, resulting in injuries to all eight policemen on board. They were promptly shifted to the Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Uri for treatment.
“Eight policemen on board sustained injuries in the mishap and were immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Uri for treatment,” the official said.
Police said they have taken cognisance of the incident, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the crash.
This comes just days after a similar incident in Kishtwar district. On 27 May, a private car travelling towards Chatroo from Kishtwar veered off the road in the Mugalmaidan area, killing one person and injuring four others.

“A car (JK17A 8880) on its way to Chatroo from Kishtwar skidded off the road and fell into a gorge, resulting in injuries to five persons,” police stated.
The injured were rushed to the Public Health Centre (PHC) in Chatroo, from where all five were referred to the District Hospital in Kishtwar. One of them was declared dead on arrival.
Among the injured, one person identified as Waseem Ahmad, son of Irshad Ahmad of Sigdi Bhata, was in critical condition and referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Jammu for specialised treatment.
Both incidents have once again raised concerns over road safety and driving conditions in the hilly terrain of Jammu and Kashmir, especially during deployment or inter-district travel.
