Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, was hospitalised on Tuesday due to dehydration and other health concerns following his "fast unto death" protest.
The hunger strike is part of his demand for the cancellation of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) exams held last month amid allegations of a question paper leak.
Kishor was taken to a private hospital in Patna by ambulance after a doctor who visited his home recommended immediate medical attention. The doctor stated, “He is experiencing weakness, discomfort, dehydration, and an infection that requires detailed evaluation.”
Before heading to the hospital, Kishor told reporters, “My fast unto death will continue.”
The police arrested Kishor early Monday morning, citing an FIR filed against him for holding the hunger strike at Gandhi Maidan in violation of a Patna High Court order.
The court had designated Gardani Bagh as the only permissible location for protests in the city. He was later released on bail the same day.
Kishor’s protest aligns with civil service aspirants demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exams, which have been marred by accusations of a paper leak. He began his hunger strike on January 2 and was arrested on January 6.
