Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday congratulated Aryadan Shoukath on his by-election win in Nilambur in Kerala and lauded the party's commitment and dedication towards the victory. The Congress leader thanked the Nilambur people for the vote of faith in the United Democratic Front's (UDF) vision and hoped that their confidence would lead the party ahead.
On an X post, Priyanka Gandhi said, "We were a team, each one committed and with single-pointed focus, that is the greatest learning of this triumph. Heartiest wishes to Aryadan Shoukath whose dedication and work has stood out and to all the workers and leaders of the UDF whose toil made this win possible."
Most of all a big thank you to my Nilambur siblings for your support. Your trust and belief in the principles of our constitution, and in the vision of the UDF for development will be the guiding light for our path forward," the post added.
Following his victory, the UDF candidate Aryadan Shoukath of Congress today lashed out at the government for its long period of neglect in Nilambur and stated that the outcome represents general frustration and misery of people in Kerala. Shoukath stressed the growing anti-incumbency mood and stated that triumph is against the LDF-led State government.

Speaking to the media, Aryadan Shoukath asserted, "This win is actually against the state government. Already I mentioned that there is anti-incumbency. The Nilambur has been plagued by neglect of the state government for the past years. This win is against Left Government. The people of Kerala are suffering and this is the expression of their feeling."
Congress MLA Chandy Oommen, on the other hand, said that the win, which was recorded after 9 years, was the expression of the people's feelings. He also expressed confidence that the UDF would be elected to power in Kerala's upcoming election with Congress as the government and a Congress Chief Minister.
"The whole party leadership and workers fought for this victory together and we have won this victory after 9 years. This was the seat of Aryadan Muhammed. Now, his son has recaptured the seat from CPI(M) after nine years.". This indicates the sentiments of the people in Kerala, which is heading for elections next year. UDF is going to come to power next year, I am certain of it. Congress party is going to be in power and we are going to have a Congress CM this time next year," Oommen stated.

In a major setback for the Pinarayi Vijayan-led LDF government in Kerala, Congress's Shoukath trounced LDF's M Swaraj of CPI(M) by a wide margin of 11,077 votes in the Nilambur assembly by-election. According to the website of the Election Commission, Shoukath had polled 77,737 votes, a margin of 11,077 votes ahead of CPM's M Swaraj after 19 rounds of counting.
The Nilambur bypoll was caused by Left Democratic Front independent legislator PV Anvar's resignation, who later resigned from membership of the ruling coalition to join All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) following his bitter split with the ruling coalition.
