Senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra joined her brother, Rahul Gandhi, in the ongoing 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' in Supaul, Bihar on Tuesday.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and several of his cabinet colleagues, including Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, also participated in the yatra. The leaders, along with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav and other representatives of the INDIA bloc, were seen sitting on the roof of an SUV, waving to an enthusiastic crowd.
The yatra, which had taken a one-day break, resumed on Tuesday. During a press conference in Araria on Sunday, Rahul Gandhi asserted that all INDIA bloc constituents in Bihar were working unitedly for the upcoming assembly polls and that the results would be fruitful. He also said that the INDIA bloc would soon release a common manifesto for the elections, stating, "All constituents of the opposition alliance are working unitedly... we are both ideologically and politically aligned... mutually respecting each other, and the results would be fruitful."
Gandhi also launched a scathing attack on the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre. He alleged that the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state was "an institutionalised attempt by the Election Commission to steal votes to help the Bharatiya Janata Party."
The 16-day yatra, which began on August 17 from Sasaram, will conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1. The campaign, which is covering more than 1,300 km across the state, has so far passed through Gayaji, Nawada, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai, Munger, Katihar, and Purnea districts. It is scheduled to continue through Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamarhi, West Champaran, Saran, Bhojpur and Patna.
