In a significant breakthrough against cross-border terrorism, Punjab Police have arrested two key operatives of the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).

The arrested individuals, identified as Jagdish Singh alias Jagga and Shubhdeep Singh Aulakh alias Shubh, were found to have direct links with Pakistan-based terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda and US-based gangster Happy Passian.

According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the arrests were made in an intelligence-based operation carried out by the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Mohali. The operation is being seen as a major success in dismantling terror networks operating between India and foreign countries.

Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), DGP Yadav stated, "In an intelligence-based operation, SSOC, Mohali has apprehended two key operatives of BKI directly linked to Pak-based BKI terrorist Harwinder Singh Rinda & USA-based Happy Passian, a major blow to cross-border terror networks."

Planned targeted killings in Punjab

As per the police investigation, the duo was allegedly instructed to carry out targeted killings in Punjab as part of a larger coordinated terror operation.

Their activities were being remotely controlled by Rinda, who is known for his deep connections with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and involvement in multiple terror conspiracies against India.

Police also revealed that Jagdish and Shubhdeep were involved in a murder in Nanded, Maharashtra, on February 10, 2025, following instructions from Rinda. The incident also left another person severely injured.

Weapons seized; investigation underway

During the operation, police recovered two .32 bore pistols and five rounds of ammunition from the arrested operatives. The authorities believe the duo was part of a larger network engaged in violent activities and are currently conducting further investigations to identify and apprehend their accomplices.

Both Jagdish Singh and Shubhdeep Singh hail from Tarn Taran district in Punjab, an area that has witnessed multiple cases of radicalisation and cross-border infiltration in recent years.

The arrests mark another successful effort by Punjab Police in curbing terror networks and neutralizing threats posed by foreign-backed operatives. Security agencies are now working to trace the broader terror-financing and recruitment network that facilitated their activities.
