Punjab Cabinet saw a reshuffle on Monday. Sanjeev Arora has been given the Power Department. Harbhajan Singh ETO will now keep only the Public Works Department (PWD).
Arora, who joined the Cabinet last month, already handles Industry and Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs. With Power added, his role has become stronger.
The notification on the new portfolios was issued late in the evening. The Punjab Governor has changed the portfolios of both ministers on the advice of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
For the past few months, there had been speculation about changes in ministerial portfolios. When Arora, who left his Rajya Sabha seat to win the Ludhiana West bypoll, was sworn in as minister in July, many expected this reshuffle. At that time, only Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal was dropped, and no other changes were made.
