The deadlock between the central government and protesting farmers shows signs of easing as Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav visited the Khanuri border to meet Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who has been on a hunger strike for the past 20 days.
During the visit, DGP Yadav urged Dallewal to end his fast, emphasising that his life is far more valuable than the protest. He was accompanied by senior officials, including DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu and SSP Nanak Singh.
Officials from the Union Home Ministry were also present to facilitate dialogue.
Speaking after the meeting, DGP Yadav stated, “We are coordinating with everyone to create an environment conducive to talks between the central government and the farmers.”
Union Home Ministry Director Mayank Mishra, also present at the site, remarked, “As directed by the honourable Supreme Court, we are here to listen to the demands of the protesting farmers.”
He also noted the growing solidarity of Haryana farmers with their Punjab counterparts, who have been protesting at the Shambhu-Khanauri border for 10 months.
Meanwhile, BKU leader Gurnam Singh Charuni is expected to visit the Khanuri border to check on Jagjit Singh Dallewal's health and extend his support.
