The Punjab government has notified the formation of three textile sector-specific committees to suggest inputs for the new industrial policy, state Industries Minister Sanjeev Arora said on Wednesday. The move aimed at bringing more investment and generating job opportunities in the state.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Arora shared the names of the committee heads. He said SP Oswal, head of Vardhman Group, will lead the Spinning and Weaving Committee, Sandeep Jain, Director of Monte Carlo, will head the Apparel Committee while Rajnish Gupta, an industrialist, will chair the Dyeing and Finishing Committee.
Each committee will have 8–10 members and has been asked to submit its recommendations by October 1. Arora also mentioned that more such committees for other industries will be announced soon.
These panels will help the government understand industry needs, encourage investments, and identify ways to create more job opportunities. The Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Ludhiana, will act as the member secretary for these three committees and will coordinate with them.
Earlier, on July 17, the minister had announced plans to form industry-specific committees for several key sectors, including IT, sports goods, machine tools, bicycle industry, and auto components.
