In a significant move that has sparked considerable political debate, the Punjab Government has reportedly revoked the Z plus security cover of Bikram Singh Majithia, a senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and former Cabinet minister, as per sources.
Majithia, who has held a prominent position within the SAD, was provided with Z plus security in the past, a privilege extended due to his high-profile political status and the perceived risks associated with his role.
The decision to revoke his security detail has quickly become a point of contention in the political landscape. Sukhbir Singh Badal, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab and a key figure in the SAD, has strongly condemned the move.
He accused the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government of employing dangerous political tactics and labelled the action as part of a broader strategy to weaken the Shiromani Akali Dal's leadership and influence in Punjab.

Badal further expressed his concerns, suggesting that the revocation of Majithia's security was not just a standalone decision but rather a deliberate part of a larger conspiracy aimed at undermining the SAD's leadership.
He referred to the Mann government’s actions as revealing their "harmful and dangerous intentions" against the Akali Dal, emphasising that such tactics were intended to destabilise the party’s standing within the state.
Badal’s statement highlights the growing tensions between the AAP government and opposition parties in Punjab, with both sides accusing each other of undermining political stability.
