In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police has thwarted a major target killing conspiracy allegedly masterminded by Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dala. Two key operatives of the module have been arrested, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.
According to preliminary investigations, the arrested individuals were reportedly acting on instructions from Arsh Dala to carry out killings of rival gang members and extortion targets.
“In a major breakthrough, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Punjab, has foiled a target killing plot orchestrated by Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dala and apprehended two key operatives — Kawaljit Singh of Dharamkot and Navdeep Singh alias Hani of Badduwal,” DGP Yadav stated in a post on social media platform X.
He added that the timely, intelligence-led operation has dismantled a targeted killing module and averted a serious threat to public safety. During the operation, the police recovered a Turkish-made Zigana .30 bore pistol along with nine live cartridges.
Further investigation is underway to uncover both forward and backward linkages of the module, police said.
