A day after the police raided a stone crusher owned by Parveen Sharma, a close relative of Hamirpur BJP MLA Ashish Sharma, the MLA on Wednesday called the action a political vendetta against him.
Addressing the media, Ashish Sharma said the raid by the Hamirpur police was part of a “conspiracy” to tarnish his image. He alleged that a false FIR was registered against Parveen Sharma and that the action was taken under political pressure.
Ashish Sharma, who was among the three Independent MLAs supporting BJP Rajya Sabha candidate Harsh Mahajan last year before joining the BJP, said he had submitted complaints to the DGP, SP, DCP, and the local police station.
“With With the blessings of the people of Hamirpur, me and my family will not bend down before false cases. We will fight against the corrupt officers with full force with Shankar Mahadev's blessings,” he said.
The raid, led by ASP Rajesh, was based on a tip-off. The police found the crusher carrying out illegal quarrying of stones using a poclain and other machines at a site in Sujanpur, where mining had been stopped since July last year. Several vehicles were confiscated during the operation.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act.
