Heavy rains continue to batter Himachal Pradesh, causing widespread damage and disruption to daily life. The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) record says, as of Friday, 235 roads are still blocked due to landslides and floods. Power supply has been hit in 56 areas, and 139 water supply schemes are not working.

So far this monsoon season, 147 people have lost their lives. Of these, 79 died in rain-related incidents like landslides, flashfloods, and cloudbursts, while 68 died in road accidents.

Mandi district has been hit the hardest, with 144 roads blocked. Kullu has 58 blocked roads, and Kangra has 11. A key highway, NH-70 between Mandi and Kotali is also remained closed due to heavy landslides. Water supply has been badly affected in Mandi and Kangra.

The SDMA report also highlights heavy losses to agriculture, horticulture, and public infrastructure. Damage to public property has crossed ₹1,38,753 lakh since June 20.

Restoration work is in progress, but continued rainfall is slowing it down. Essential services like water and electricity remain affected in many places. A total of 173 water schemes are not working, mainly in Mandi, Kullu, and Sirmaur. Additionally, the power supply remains disrupted in 56 areas due to damage to distribution transformers.

Teams from the Public Works Department and National Highways Authority are working hard to restore services. Officials are warning people to avoid travel in vulnerable areas, as the risk of landslides and flash floods remains high due to ongoing rain.
