Raja Raghuvanshi was murdered by his wife Sonam in May in Meghalaya.

An important development in the ongoing investigation into Raja Raghuwanshi's death is that the Assam Police have filed a case against his cousin Srishti Raghuwanshi, who claimed in a video that Raja was killed as part of a ritual involving human sacrifice. The video went viral which is the he main reason for filing the case was the video.

The contentious statement was made by well-known social media influencer Srishti in an emotional response to Raja's unexplained death. On June 2, Raja, who vanished in Meghalaya on May 23, was discovered dead close to Vaisadong Falls. Srishti implied in the video that his death was related to a ceremonial sacrifice that was purportedly associated with the Kamakhya Temple in Assam.

In response to her remarks, Saru Doloi Himadri, a priest at the Kamakhya temple, vehemently denounced the allegations. He further said that whenever a murder takes place close to the temple, unfounded rumours about human sacrifice reappear, hurting public opinion and unjustly damaging the temple's reputation. The priest later described that Srishti's claims as divisive and inflammatory, cautioning that they may cause religious misunderstandings and regional tensions.

Vipin Raghuwanshi, Raja's brother, admitted that the family was still unsure of the precise circumstances surrounding Raja's passing. He did, however, affirm that their mother, Uma Raghuwanshi, had previously expressed worries about the potential for human sacrifice, particularly after discovering that some of the suspects had performed a ritual at the Kamakhya Temple prior to Raja's attack. According to the family, up to fifteen people may have been involved in the incident.

After Raja's body was discovered and a suspect named Sonam was taken into custody, Srishti, who aggressively used her social media channels to plead for assistance while Raja was missing, was at the forefront of calling for justice. Online indignation was triggered by Srishti Raghuwanshi's claim that her cousin Raja might have been a victim of human sacrifice. Her remarks drew harsh criticism on social media, despite the emotional turmoil she was going through. Srishti responded by expressing her sincere regret, saying that she had spoken during a time of extreme distress and had never meant to offend any community or religion.

The backlash, however, continued. The wave of trolling and personal attacks was not significantly reduced by her apology. Nevertheless, despite the commotion, many defended her, including supporters and other influencers who noted that her outburst was motivated by grief and desperation rather than animosity. Reminding the public that Srishti was a young woman attempting to come to terms with a terrible loss, they called on others to be compassionate.

Authorities at Kamakhya Temple, meanwhile, vehemently denied any connection between the holy location and such a heinous crime. Priest Saru Doloi Himadri emphasised that human sacrifice has no place in the temple's traditions, which are devoted to ancient Vedic rites. He said that spreading false information denigrates one of India's most venerated Shakti Peeths and offends the feelings of innumerable devotees, so he called on the government to take more aggressive action against it.

Raja's distraught family is still looking for justice and answers as the investigation into his death goes on. The delicate task of seeking the truth while preserving social harmony is now faced by state authorities. The case continues to be a legal and emotional battleground, with the public's attention still focused on it.
