The newly-elected AAP MLA from Ludhiana West, Sanjeev Arora, was formally inducted into the Punjab Cabinet on Thursday, where he was allocated the portfolio of the Department of Industry and the Department of NRI Affairs.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, who was so far in-charge of the portfolio of NRI Affairs, tendered his resignation. Meanwhile, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, who was handling the Department of Industry, will continue to hold Rural Development, Labour, and Tourism departments.

Arora was administered the oath of office and secrecy by the Governor of Punjab, Gulab Chand Kataria, at Punjab Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh. The ceremony was conducted by the Chief Secretary, Punjab, KAP Sinha, and lasted all of six minutes.
It was attended by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, his wife Gurpreet Kaur Mann, and various ministers and dignitaries.
In three years of AAP’s governance in Punjab, this is the seventh time that a Cabinet expansion has taken place.
There still remain two berths vacant in the Bhagwant Mann Cabinet despite the total number of ministers now reaching 16.
