The Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government is set to expand its Cabinet once again, with newly elected Ludhiana West MLA Sanjeev Arora likely to be inducted on Thursday. This marks the seventh Cabinet reshuffle in the Aam Aadmi Party’s three-year tenure in the state.
Arora is expected to be sworn in during a ceremony at the Punjab Raj Bhawan on Thursday afternoon. His induction had been on the cards ever since his
election victory last week. During his campaign, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal had assured voters that Arora would be made a minister if elected, a
promise that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also reiterated. However, the swearing-in was delayed due to Governor Gulab Chand Kataria’s unavailability.
While Arora's inclusion appears certain, it remains to be seen whether additional ministers will be brought into the 16-member Cabinet. Punjab is allowed up to 18 Cabinet ministers, including the Chief Minister.
There is also some buzz about potential changes in ministerial portfolios, though no official confirmation has been given yet.
