Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district busted a terrorist hideout on Friday and recovered a large cache of arms, ammunition and explosive material, officials said.
During a search operation in the Chatroo area of the district, security forces busted a hideout in the Bajmandoo forest of the Sigdi Bhata area.
Officials said that the alleged hideout belonged to a terrorist commander who had been killed by the security forces in the past. The recovered cache of arms and ammunition included one carbine gun with one magazine, one pistol with a magazine, one sling, and an Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) with one 51 mm rocket and four detonators.
Additionally, officials said they also recovered 97 rounds of 9 mm live ammunition, 18 rounds of 7.62 mm live ammunition, one pull-through, one kilogram of explosive, one Kenwood radio set and two Motorola radio sets.
Security forces in the Jammu division have recovered weapons and other items from such raids in the past as well.
The intensified operations against the terror modules, leading to the busting of hideouts in deep forests and remote areas, have enabled security forces to maintain strict control of the overall situation in Jammu and Kashmir in 2026.
