'Shameless display...': Maliwal rips Atishi for Kalkaji victory dance

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal criticised AAP leader Atishi, calling her victory celebration after Kalkaji win a "shameless display." Her remarks followed AAP’s crushing defeat, as BJP reclaimed Delhi after 27 years, ousting top AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal.

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal (L) denounced AAP leader Atishi for her celebratory dance after Kalkaji victory, terming it a "shameless display" amid AAP's crushing defeat in the assembly elections.

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has lambasted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi for what she described as a "shameless display" following the latter’s victory from Kalkaji constituency in the recently concluded assembly elections.

Maliwal took to social media to share a video showing Atishi dancing jubilantly with her supporters after securing her seat in a hard-fought contest against the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Ramesh Bidhuri.

In a post on X, Maliwal remarked, "What kind of shameless display is this? The party lost, all the big leaders lost and Atishi Marlena is celebrating like this?"

Despite the victory in Kalkaji, the AAP suffered a crushing defeat, with several senior leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, failing to secure their seats.

Atishi, however, acknowledged the party’s poor performance and pledged to continue the fight against the BJP.

“I am thankful for the trust bestowed upon me by the people of Kalkaji. While the overall results are disappointing, we will keep working for a better Delhi,” Atishi said.

BJP’s Parvesh Verma emerged as a giant-slayer, defeating Kejriwal by over 4,000 votes in the New Delhi seat.

Swati Maliwal, a long-standing critic of AAP, seized the moment to launch a scathing attack on the party.

Maliwal stated, "If we see the history - if something wrong happens to any woman, god has punished those who commit that."

Maliwal’s remarks alluded to an incident where she accused Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her at the then Chief Minister’s residence. Despite her ongoing criticism, Maliwal has not officially left the party.

Drawing a parallel to mythological tales, she added, "Even Ravan’s pride was shattered, and he is only Kejriwal."

The BJP secured a historic mandate, ending AAP’s dominance in the national capital after 27 years. The saffron party won 47 seats and is leading in one, while AAP secured 22.

The Congress, once a formidable force in Delhi, failed to win any seat, marking its third consecutive zero-tally performance in the assembly elections.
