Siddhivinayak Ganapati TemplThe Shree e Trust (SSGTT) has announced a new dress code for devotees, effective from next week.
The directive stipulates that visitors to the famous Mumbai temple must wear “decent and body-covering clothes,” with a preference for traditional Indian attire.
The decision follows a series of complaints regarding inappropriate clothing, which had caused discomfort to other devotees.
The SSGTT has made it clear that anyone wearing attire deemed revealing or inappropriate, including torn jeans, short skirts, or clothes that expose body parts, will not be allowed entry.
“Devotees wearing trousers with cuts or torn fabric, short skirts, or clothing that exposes body parts will not be permitted inside the temple,” the Trust stated in its announcement.
The Siddhivinayak temple, located in the Prabhadevi area, attracts thousands of worshippers daily from all over the country. Many of these visitors had expressed concerns about the dress of some devotees, feeling it was disrespectful in the sacred environment.
In response to repeated requests from devotees, the temple trust has decided to implement the dress code in order to preserve the sanctity of the temple.
The SSGTT explained that the dress code would help ensure that all visitors feel comfortable during their visits, thus maintaining decorum and respect within the temple.
