Sikh activist Bakshish Singh narrowly escaped injury when assailants fired at his car, police said on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 1:30 am on the Patiala South Bypass Road near Urban Estate.
SSP Nanak Singh confirmed that the police are investigating the matter and an FIR has been filed at the Urban Estate police station.
Bakshish Singh, who has been raising various issues, including the cases of Bandi Singhs (Sikh prisoners), was on his way home to SST Nagar after visiting Gurdwara Karhali Sahib near Samana when the attack took place.
Police sources said that two or three shots were fired at his car, but Bakshish Singh managed to escape without injury.
