The Punjab Police said on Sunday that they have apprehended six individuals allegedly involved in a cross-border smuggling ring with direct ties to traffickers based in Pakistan. During the operation, Amritsar police seized an arsenal of six sophisticated pistols and 60 live cartridges, alongside 3.51 kg of heroin.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav shared details of the arrest on X, noting that preliminary inquiries suggest the group was responsible for moving weapons and narcotics across the Indo-Pak border. According to the DGP, the suspects were acting under the instructions of a cross-border handler, a clear sign of a more extensive and organised criminal network.
Investigations are underway as authorities work to trace both the origin and the final destination of the contraband. The ultimate goal, as stated by the police, is to identify all associated links and completely dismantle the smuggling operation.
