Rameez Mohammad, 24, has been taken into custody by Kothamangalam Police for his alleged involvement with the suicide case of his 23-year-old girlfriend Sona Eldhose.
Sona was discovered hanging in her bedroom on Saturday at her home in Karukadam. She was rushed to a Kothamangalam hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:43 pm. A case of unnatural death has been registered by the police.
A suicide note was recovered from the room, in which Sona alleged harassment and forced religious conversion by Mohammad. The autopsy was performed at the Government Medical College in Kalamassery, and her funeral took place on Sunday at Chelad Church.

Sona, a second-year TTC student in Muvattupuzha, and Mohammad, a daily wage worker from Aluva, were reportedly in a relationship, and discussions about marriage were ongoing. Sona’s father, Eldhose, passed away three months ago. Her mother, Bindu, is a housemaid, and her brother, Basil, works as a driver.
Police have confiscated Sona's phone to analyse her chat history and other digital evidence. A police official confirmed that Mohammad was apprehended in Aluva and is currently being questioned, with no case registered against him at this time.
