Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk visited the Shambhu Khanauri border to meet Jagjit Singh Dallewal, the farm leader who has been on a hunger strike since November 26 to press for the farmers' demands from the Centre.
Wangchuk, accompanied by other farmer leaders from two unions leading the protest, expressed his support for Dallewal. The purpose of the meeting was to show solidarity with the ongoing farmers' protest.
Wangchuk explained that his visit was to send "good wishes and warm support on behalf of the people of Ladakh."
He also mentioned that Dallewal was too weak to speak because of his long hunger strike, and the meeting's aim was to offer solidarity rather than hold an in-depth discussion.
Wangchuk encouraged everyone to support the farmers' protest, saying, "The food we eat is produced by farmers."
Meanwhile, the ongoing protest at the Punjab-Haryana border continues, with farmers planning a 'Kisan Mahapanchayat' at the Khanauri border.
The decision to hold the Mahapanchayat was unanimously made by the Samyukta Kisan Morcha (non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha as part of their protest against the Centre.
