Among those arrested are four men and three women. A case has been filed and the accused were produced before the Ranaghat Judicial Court.

In a successful special operation, the Nadia district police apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals who had illegally infiltrated into India. The arrests were made in the Hanskhali police station area on Saturday morning.

According to police sources, the infiltrators had crossed the India-Bangladesh border nearly three years ago. “After entering Indian territory, they allegedly procured Indian identification documents with the help of local brokers. They then dispersed across various Indian states, reportedly for business purposes,” said a police officer.

The Hanskhali police received a tip-off on Saturday that the group was attempting to return to Bangladesh illegally. Acting swiftly, officers intercepted and detained all seven individuals before they could reach the border.

Among those arrested are four men and three women. A case has been filed and the accused were produced before the Ranaghat Judicial Court.

Authorities are now probing the involvement of Indian brokers who assisted the group in securing forged documents and crossing borders. The police are also examining whether any organised infiltration network was involved.

Superintendent of police of Ranaghat police district Ashish Maijya said, “We have interrogated the arrested persons and produced them in court. Our focus is now on uncovering whether they were aided by Indian agents or are linked to a broader infiltration ring.”

This incident highlights a growing concern. With the worsening situation in Bangladesh—particularly following recent developments—there has been a noticeable rise in the number of Bangladeshi nationals illegally entering India. Despite multiple operations leading to the arrest of over a hundred infiltrators and several brokers, the trend shows no signs of slowing down.

These developments have sparked renewed concerns over the effectiveness of BSF (Border Security Force) surveillance along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
