The driver of the car running at high speed lost control of the vehicle and hit several people before fleeing the spot.

A tragic road accident in Dehradun claimed the lives of four pedestrians and left two others injured when a speeding Mercedes-Benz lost control and ran over people on Wednesday night. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, prompting a police investigation.

The accident took place near the Sai Temple on Rajpur Road, a busy stretch in Dehradun. According to eyewitnesses, the luxury car was moving at an extremely high speed when the driver lost control, veering off the road and plowing into pedestrians walking along the roadside. Several motorists were also struck before the car sped away.

CCTV footage captured the vehicle racing toward Sahastradhara Road after the incident. Locals, alarmed by the loud crash, rushed out of their homes and shops to assist the injured. Emergency services were immediately called, and the victims were transported to Doon Hospital in critical condition.

Among the four deceased, two have been identified as 30-year-old Mansha Ram and 35-year-old Ranjit, both laborers from Ayodhya. The police are still working to confirm the identities of the other two victims.

In addition to the fatalities, two individuals riding a scooter were also injured in the accident. They are currently receiving treatment at a local hospital.

Following the accident, the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The police launched an immediate investigation and, with the help of CCTV footage, began tracking the suspect.

Authorities later recovered the abandoned Mercedes in an empty plot in the Sahastradhara area. Further inquiries revealed that the car had been purchased from Delhi. Based on this lead, a police team was dispatched to Delhi to gather more details, while another team traveled to Chandigarh to question the vehicle's registered owner.

The car carried a Chandigarh registration number, and investigators are working to confirm the identity of the driver responsible for the fatal hit-and-run. The police have urged anyone with additional information about the incident to come forward as the search for the accused continues.
