Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway has been stopped due to a landslide in the Mehad area of Ramban. Authorities are working to clear the debris, and drivers are advised to use alternative routes.
The region is experiencing harsh weather, with Banihal's mountains covered in snow after recent snowfall. The temperature dropped to 3°C, with a high of 15°C expected. In Bhaderwah, rainfall and low-hanging clouds have created a scenic view, with snow-capped mountains in the background. Srinagar remains cold, with temperatures staying low.

A tourist from Andhra Pradesh, CHVS Reddy, shared his experience, saying, "It is so cold we can barely stand. But we love this place and will visit again with our families. The people in Kashmir are very friendly."

Meanwhile, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has started work on the 1.1-km-long Bhimber Gali Tunnel on National Highway 144A. The tunnel, once completed, will shorten the highway by 10.8 km and improve connectivity between Rajouri and Poonch for both civilians and the Army.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Sonamarg Tunnel, saying it would greatly improve connectivity and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
He praised the workers for their dedication and expressed condolences for the loss of seven labourers during construction. PM Modi highlighted that work on the tunnel began in 2015 under his government and was successfully completed under their leadership.
