The traffic on the Jammu and Kashmir national highway was restored on Sunday, officials said.
The 270-kilometre-long highway was cleared for traffic after remaining closed for two days.
Officials of the J&K traffic department said that passenger vehicles have been allowed to ply on the highway from both sides.
They advised all travellers to follow the lane discipline to avoid causing unnecessary traffic congestion on the highway.
They also cautioned commuters to exercise caution due to slippery road conditions between Banihal and Qazigund.
“Mughal Road, Sinthan Road, Sonamarg-Kargil Road, and Bhaderwah-Chamba Road remain closed due to snow accumulation,” officials added.
Pertinently, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed for traffic on Friday due to inclement weather conditions and heavy snowfall.
While some passengers complained about the slow restoration work on the highway, a few passengers travelling to Jammu were seen playing cricket inside the tunnel, bringing a moment of joy among the travellers stuck on the highway.
The suspension of traffic causes a great deal of inconvenience among those travelling from and to Srinagar.
Meanwhile, the heavy and unexpected snowfall has caused widespread disruptions in the Kashmir valley.
The MET office in Srinagar has forecasted similar weather conditions for the next two to three days in the region, with slight improvement after December 30.
