A viral video from a primary school in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu, has caused widespread shock, showing children in a classroom massaging their headmaster's legs.
The incident is said to have happened at the Maveripatti Primary School in Harur, which enrols around 30 children from the local village. In the footage, the school’s headmaster, identified as Kalaivani, is seen lying on a table, allegedly instructing the children to press her legs.
After the video circulated widely on social media, authorities launched an investigation. Officials confirmed that an inquiry is underway and that further action will be taken based on its findings.
The news follows other recent allegations of misconduct at schools. In Kerala, the Education Department has ordered a separate investigation into an incident at a government school in Kasaragod, where a 10th-grade student was allegedly assaulted by the headmaster, which resulted in a ruptured eardrum. The incident occurred on August 11 at Kundamkuzhi Government Higher Secondary School.
In another case, Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty directed the Director of General Education to conduct an inquiry after a fifth-grade student at Cochin Public School in Thrikkakara was reportedly locked alone in a dark room for being late to class. The student, who was three minutes late, was first made to run two laps around the school grounds before being confined to the room. The student later said, "I reached school and was 2–3 minutes late. They made us run for two rounds. The principal told me either my parents should come and pick me or I had to sit alone in a room. Only teachers were there in that class.”
