Ahead of the start of the monsoon session on Monday, the Congress Legislature Party met in Shimla under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
The party meeting was held at Oak Over, the CM’s official residence, to plan a strategy against the Opposition on various issues. All ministers, Deputy Speaker Vinay Kumar, party legislators, and Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) President Pratibha Chauhan attended.
The monsoon session will commence on Monday and will conclude on September 2, having a total of 12 sittings. So far, the Vidhan Sabha has received 981 questions from MLAs, 13 notices each under Rule 62 and Rule 130, and six notices under Rule 101.

The Congress is set to target the BJP over the Modi government’s failure to announce a special financial package for Himachal after the heavy rain damage to public and private property. The state government also plans to move a resolution urging the Centre to provide special relief for restoring damaged infrastructure, especially roads, bridges, and water supply schemes.
Several important Bills are likely to be tabled. A heated debate is also expected over the appointment of Vice Chancellors of the Horticulture and Agriculture Universities. Sukhu has already said the Cabinet decided to introduce a new legislation after Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla returned the earlier Bill with certain objections.
