The Tamil Nadu government is set to host a major event to highlight its notable educational initiatives. The programme, titled 'Kalviyil Sirantha Tamil Nadu' (Tamil Nadu Excelling in Education), will be held at the Nehru Indoor Stadium on Thursday, with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy as the special guest.

Government spokesperson and revenue secretary P Amudha described the event as a "grand celebration of educational achievements" that will feature key initiatives such as the 'Naan Mudhalvan' scheme, the 'Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme', and the 'Pudhumai Penn' and 'Tamil Pudhalvan' schemes. The event will also highlight the 'Kalaignar Sports Kit Scheme', 'Mission International Medal Scheme (MIMS)', and schemes for children with special needs.

According to officials, the government’s efforts have had a significant impact on students across the state. The event will mark the launch of this year's 'Tamil Pudhalvan' and 'Pudhumai Penn' schemes, which will provide ₹1,000 per month to 2.57 lakh male and female students from government schools who are pursuing higher education. Social welfare secretary Jayashree Muralidharan noted that the scheme has already helped more than 3,500 girls who had previously dropped out to rejoin higher education courses.

Highlighting the success of the 'Naan Mudhalvan' scheme, P Amudha stated that 14.60 lakh students have benefited from it so far, and 41 lakh skill certificates have been issued, enhancing students’ employability. She also claimed that the scheme has helped over one lakh students secure employment each year. Furthermore, the ‘Chief Minister’s Breakfast Scheme’ now benefits 20.59 lakh primary students across 37,416 schools.

In addition to financial aid, the government’s focused guidance has also shown strong results. School education secretary Chandra Mohan claimed that over 90 per cent of the 3,23,336 government school students who cleared their Class 12 examinations this year have enrolled in higher education. Amudha also pointed to the renovation of major sports stadiums, the ongoing construction of mini-stadia in 75 constituencies, and various support schemes for athletes, which have contributed to an increase in the number of medals won by Tamil Nadu sportspersons.
