Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday said that his administration is not trying to buy peace but rather to establish what he feels is a conducive environment for lasting and just peace in the region.

During his media address at an event here, he said the Jammu and Kashmir police are playing a crucial role in dismantling the terror ecosystem in the region.

"The police have a crucial responsibility to destroy the support system of terrorists—be it financial, logistical, or otherwise. It is not just the terrorist who needs to be dealt with, but also the entire machinery that facilitates terror," he added.

Sinha had earlier highlighted that there were jobs given to people who were directly or indirectly linked with terrorism in Kashmir Valley; however, his administration has completely redone the old practices.

"Several families have lost their loved ones to terrorism. In some homes, only elderly parents remain after their sons were brutally killed by terrorists, not only leaving a lasting effect on mental well-being but also affecting families financially."

Sinha said, on July 13, as many as 40 appointment letters were given to the next of kin of those killed by terrorists in the Baramulla district.\

“Some youth lost their fathers when they were just two years old. Today, we are ensuring that their pain is acknowledged and justice is delivered,” he said.

He mentioned the recent wave of change in Kashmir valley, saying “youths are now entering into the corporate world, creating a name for themselves and providing jobs to others with the help of central and local government assistance. Factories have replaced the anti-national slogans in the Kashmir valley."

Towards the end of his address, Sinha said, “People must join hands with security forces. Peace is not just the absence of conflict—it is the presence of justice, opportunity, and hope. And we are committed to making that peace a permanent reality.”
