At least three Army personnel and a police officer were injured in an ongoing encounter in South Kashmir’s Kulgam District on Saturday, officials concerned with the development informed.
Reports indicate that three soldiers and the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kulgam sustained injuries during a firefight with militants.
All the injured are said to be in stable condition, according to officials.
The operation to neutralise the militants is still underway.
The encounter began early in the morning in the Adigam area of Kulgam district when a joint team of the Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) based on specific intelligence regarding the presence of militants in the area.
As the security forces approached the suspected location, the militants opened fire, leading to a retaliatory response and triggering an encounter.
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
This is a developing story, and more details will follow.
