In a shocking incident of alleged witchcraft, three members of a tribal family—a man, his wife and their 12-year-old son—were brutally murdered in Godda district of Jharkhand.
The incident took place at Danga Tola under Devdand police station limits, where unidentified attackers reportedly used sharp weapons to kill 50-year-old Darbari Murmu, his 45-year-old wife Makku Baskey and their minor son Jeetnarayan Murmu late on Monday night.
The killings triggered panic across the village, with residents waking up to the news on Tuesday morning. A sense of fear and anger has since gripped the entire area.

On receiving information, senior police officers reached the spot with a team of personnel and launched a probe. The bodies were then sent for post-mortem examination, police said.
In a swift development, three suspects have been arrested and are being questioned. “A tribal couple and their minor son were hacked to death at Danga Tola. Prima facie, the case appears to be associated with witchcraft, though all angles are being examined,” SDPO Ashok Priyadarshi said.
He added that a special investigation team has been formed to thoroughly probe the matter. Police have also recovered the axe believed to have been used in the killings.
Officials said further investigation is underway and assured that the full conspiracy behind the crime will be uncovered soon.
