Jammu and Kashmir is bustling with resurgent tourism activity after witnessing a deadly terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam. The video footage posted by several social media users and influencers shows bustling tourist activity in the famous Betaab Valley in Pahalgam.

It has taken two months of relentless effort from the government and stakeholders to revive tourism in Kashmir after terrorists on April 22 killed 26 people in broad daylight in the Baisaran valley of Pahalgam.

The effect of the dreadful attack was immediately felt as tourist numbers post-Pahalgam declined by 90 per cent.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on Sunday, expressed gratitude to people who have been working towards the restoration of tourism in the Valley. In his post on X on Sunday, Omar expressed satisfaction over the revival of tourism, particularly in Pahalgam, noting a significant change in the town’s atmosphere compared to his previous visit.

His post read, “The last time I was in Pahalgam, I cycled through a market that was all but deserted. Today I came back to a Pahalgam that was bustling with activity. Tourists from various parts of the country competed for space with local picnickers who were enjoying the cool climate & rainy weather.”

He again praised the efforts of the government and his colleagues and stakeholders alike in restoring tourism in Pahalgam, which remains one of the prized jewels in Kashmir tourism.

“It’s very satisfying to see the efforts my colleagues & I have been putting in slowly bearing fruit,” he said.
