A 19-year-old woman tourist died after a paragliding accident in Dharamsala on Saturday. She fell into a deep gorge, and the instructor, Munish Kumar, was also injured. He suffered minor injuries and is receiving treatment, said SP Kangra Shalini Agnihotri.
The woman, Bhaveshwar Khushi from Ahmedabad, Gujarat, was paragliding with her instructor when the crash happened around 5 pm at Indrunag site. Both were taken to Zonal Hospital Dharamsala, where Bhaveshwar was declared dead, and the instructor is being treated for his injuries.
The tourist had come to Dharamsala with her family. An investigation is ongoing by the Dharamsala Police Station team. According to the complaint, the crash occurred because the paraglider failed to take off properly.
There are growing concerns about why the flight was conducted in the evening. Recent paragliding accidents in Dharamsala, including fatalities and injuries to instructors, have raised more questions about the safety of the sport.
